Europe defeated their American rivals at the 45th Ryder Cup in New York to continue their dominance in the 21st century. But that hasn’t always been the case. So which team has the most Ryder Cup wins?

The first 19 editions of the Ryder Cup were played between teams from Great Britain and the United States.

The Ryder Cup was not played in 1939, 1941, 1943 or 1945 due to World War II.

The next three editions of the Ryder Cup saw players from the Republic of Ireland become involved – not that it really helped matters…

And then, from the 1979 matches onwards, the Ryder Cup was opened up to players from the rest of Continental Europe.

The 2001 Ryder Cup was pushed back a year due to the September 11 attacks in New York City, while the 2020 matches were also postponed in the wake of the Covid pandemic.
