The 2026 PGA Tour schedule will now feature 37 events after it was decided the season-opener – The Sentry – will not be played.
A statement from the PGA Tour reads: “Having assessed alternate venues in Hawaii and beyond, the TOUR determined it would not be able to contest The Sentry in 2026, citing logistical challenges — including shipping deadlines, tournament infrastructure and vendor support.”
Tyler Dennis, the tour’s chief competitions officer, added: “Since it first became a possibility that the PGA Tour would not be able to play at The Plantation Course at Kapalua due to the ongoing drought conditions on Maui, we worked closely with our partners at Sentry to assess options for contesting The Sentry in 2026,” . “While it is unfortunate to arrive at this decision, we are appreciative of the collaboration and dedication from Sentry Insurance, a tremendous partner of ours.”
The 2026 season will now begin with the Sony Open, and any players who qualified for The Sentry, which is a Signature Event, will now be exempt for the RBC Heritage in April.
As well as the four major tournaments, there will now be eight Signature Events – the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, RBC Heritage, Miami Championship, Truist Championship, Memorial and Travelers – which are limited-field, no-cut tournaments with elevated prize purses.
Among the highlights of the new schedule is the tour’s highly anticipated return to Trump National Doral, home to LIV Golf Miami, which will debut as a brand new Signature Event. This will be the 56th time The Blue Monster has staged a PGA Tour tournament since its annual spot on the schedule from 1962 through to 2016.
The 2026 season will build up to the 20th edition of the FedExCup Playoffs, concluding, as always, with the Tour Championship at East Lake.
