Footage emerges of Ryder Cup boss rapping Eminem during Bethpage karaoke session

Well, we don’t think any of us expected this…
Don Rea didn’t cover himself in much glory at the 2025 Ryder Cup.
During a BBC interview ahead of Sunday’s singles at Bethpage, the PGA of America president claimed that the abuse dished out to Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, in particular, was also seen by the fans two years before in Rome. He later inexplicably doubled down on the claim.
It led to a number of pundits demanding for Rea to step down from his role, while Europe’s Ryder Cup stars called him out for his “offensive” take.
Then things took an unexpected turn.
It was later reported by The Times that, rather than address growing concerns about player safety and wellbeing following a hostile day at Bethpage, Rea had spent the evening singing karaoke in the dining area of the hotel where players’ families and guests were staying on the Saturday night.
And now, thanks to Fried Egg Golf, a short snippet of Rea rapping to Eminem’s smash hit Lose Yourself has been posted on social media…
Now, we’re not posting this because we want to tell Rea how to do his job – as poorly as he handled the situation.
We’re posting it because it is, quite simply, a remarkable nine seconds of footage.
It’s just so far removed from what we could ever have imagined. When you think someone doing karaoke, your mind creates an image of a bar, with everyone a bit worse for wear and singing along to the music.
You certainly don’t envisage what looks like a conference room with a bunch of people looking like they are trying so hard not to cringe themselves inside out. The face on the person in red, it’s safe to say, says it all.
It’s like something out of The Office. And we’re absolutely here for it…
