The Biom H5 marks a significant milestone for Ecco as they celebrate 10 years since the original Biom, which has been a staple name when it comes to the best golf shoes on the market. Drawing on a decade of feedback from tour players and everyday golfers, it builds on Ecco’s vision of combining athletic style with high performance, making it equally suited for both the course and everyday wear, which is one of the reasons why I fell in love with Ecco originally.
Inspired by the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands, the Biom H5 is designed to perform in all conditions. It features durable yak leather, 100% waterproof GORE-TEX protection, and a versatile outsole for stability on any surface. Staying true to the Biom philosophy, the shoe allows for natural foot movement while providing the necessary support, grip, and style that golfers demand. More than just a shoe, the Biom H5 is the result of years of hard work.

As Ecco continue to innovate, the Biom H5 is a prime example of their focus on stylish, high-performance footwear. This is one of the best spikeless golf shoes because it bridges the gap between course performance and off-course wearability, offering comfort, traction, and a sleek, athletic design. My testing didn’t just focus on its performance during rounds but also on how well it transitioned to everyday wear, something key for modern golfers.
Out of the box, the ECCO Biom H5 impressed with its premium look and athletic, versatile vibe. Initially, a little tight across the midfoot, the fit was easily improved by removing the insole, which provided just the right amount of extra space.
Now time for my honest thoughts on the Ecco Biom H5 golf shoe…
Comfort: 4.5/5
The Ecco Biom H5 is an exceptionally comfortable shoe once broken in. Initially, the fit was slightly tight, but removing the insole quickly solved that issue without sacrificing cushioning or support. The underfoot feel is plush without being overly soft, offering a nice balance for walking long rounds.
The sock-like collar around the ankle is particularly forgiving and soft, helping to avoid any discomfort or blistering, although wearing proper ankle socks is recommended. I found my no-show ankle socks weren’t quite long enough to prevent the slightest rubbing. Even after full days of use, including post-round lounging and driving, the shoes maintained their comfort impressively well.
Performance: 5/5
On the course, the Biom H5 performed brilliantly. The outsole delivered excellent traction across firm and slightly damp conditions, offering the confidence you need during a swing and while walking the course. Despite the traction, the shoe remained flexible enough to allow natural foot movement and didn’t feel restrictive at any point.
The lightweight build of the shoe only boosted the success of the overall performance, making long rounds feel less tiring. Whether hitting from dry fairways or slightly wet rough, the stability and grip were consistently reliable.
Durability: 4/5
After several rounds of use, the Ecco Biom H5 showed very little wear. The upper material is soft yet robust, resisting significant creasing when properly cared for, but as with every Ecco shoe I’ve owned, make sure you look after them, and they will pay you back in the long run. I’ve found a good wipe down after each round and regular use of the Ecco care kit, and they’ll be looking as good as new for quite a while.
The outsole, with its rugged design, is not just a story; it has remained firm and effective without any early signs of deterioration. With reasonable upkeep, cleaning, and drying them properly, the Biom H5 looks likely to stay in excellent condition over the long term. As is the case with most Ecco’s, the H5 is so far suggesting the shoe is built not just for one season but for many.
Style & Design: 5/5
Style is where the ECCO Biom H5 truly shines. I will happily say that Ecco have let me down in the past with some styles, but this, this is well and truly a refreshing addition to the collection. The sleek, athletic silhouette looks fantastic with everything from traditional trousers to modern joggers or shorts. The attention to design details, such as the stylish outsole and subtle branding, gives the shoe a premium, versatile look.
It’s rare to find a golf shoe that looks equally at home on the course and at the clubhouse, but the Biom H5 manages it effortlessly. This shoe is a superb choice for golfers who like their footwear to make a statement without being flashy. I was skeptical about the shoes’ versatility until I wore them both on and off the course, but now, having lived in them for a while, they’ve well and truly won me over. Certainly an all-day kind of shoe.

The Biom H5 features a rugged outsole that maximizes grip without compromising comfort. This is largely thanks to the soft yet durable multi-directional traction on the sole. It also incorporates X-TENSA invisible technology for support with the direct connection of the lacing system and the sole. Made with durable Ecco Performance Leather, the shoe offers a responsive, energy-returning feel, ideal for both on and off the course.
The shoe benefits from Ecco’s well-known Biom Natural Motion technology, promoting natural movement and enhanced stability. The sock-like fit around the ankle helps create a seamless feel. Although the shoe doesn’t feature a BOA lacing system in the shoe I tested it is available and the traditional laces offered more than enough security. The mix of innovation and premium materials make the Biom H5 stand out against many competitors in the spikeless golf shoe market.

The Ecco Biom H5 is an outstanding golf shoe that beautifully blends performance, comfort, and style. After a minor break-in period, the shoes felt fantastic round after round, providing excellent grip, stable footing, and lasting comfort even after leaving the course. The sleek design gives them a major advantage if you want a shoe that looks great, whether you’re on the fairway or in the clubhouse.
As expected with Ecco golf shoes, the durability appears excellent and will continue, especially if you take basic care of the shoes. I would absolutely recommend the Ecco Biom H5 to golfers who want a premium, versatile spikeless shoe, especially those who value both functionality and modern, athletic looks in their footwear.
