What we say...
Forget everything you thought you knew about Skechers golf shoes. The Prestige combines classic style, all-day comfort, and reliable traction to earn a spot among the best golf shoes of 2025.
Ten years ago, if you’d told me Skechers would become my favorite golf shoes, I’d have laughed. I thought they were for grandads and Jamie Redknapp. But the Go Golf Prestige completely changed my mind – and became the shoes I wore more than any other this year and earned a spot amongst the best golf shoes of 2025.
Skechers were never on my radar as a golf shoe brand. When I thought about golf shoes, I thought Nike, Puma, FootJoy, maybe G/FORE – but never Skechers.
But this year, things have completely changed. The Skechers Go Golf Prestige not only surprised me, but they ended up becoming my first-choice golf shoes. Out of three pairs of shoes I had on rotation, these were the ones I reached for time after time.
That probably gives you a clue about how I rate them – but let’s break it down properly.
Pros
- Exceptionally comfortable
- Good stability
- Plenty of heel and ankle support
- Easy slip-in fit
Cons
- Not great waterproofing
Comfort: 4.75/5
First things first, let’s get something out of the way. I apologise for the condition of the shoes in the pictures. That’s because I forgot to snap them when they first arrived, and, completely unexpectedly, they became my go-to shoes this year.
The fact that they’ve seen about 60 rounds this year probably says all you need to know about how comfortable they are. I had three pairs of golf shoes at my disposal this year, and the other two have barely had a look in.
I tend to prefer the look of this type of brogue-style shoes, but I find sportier-looking shoes can be more comfortable, particularly for the first few wears.
That wasn’t the case with the Skechers Go Golf Prestige. They were a dream from the very first wear and required no breaking in whatsoever.
They’re not too snug, not too loose. Not too rigid, not too floppy. Not too hard underfoot, not too soft. They’re that perfect Goldilocks zone in every aspect.

If the fact that I chose Skechers – a brand I’d normally never have considered – over Nike and Puma as my go-to golf shoes this year doesn’t tell you enough, consider this: in July, I played 54 holes of golf in a day across three of England’s best links golf courses. There was only one pair of shoes I considered for the task, and they didn’t let me down. Despite walking roughly 20 miles and playing golf for almost 13 hours, my feet experienced no discomfort and felt absolutely fine at the end.
They’re not as light as some spikeless, summer golf shoes, but they’re not heavy by any means.
Performance: 3.5/5
I tend to use the ground quite aggressively in my swing and have experienced slipping in certain conditions when wearing other shoes, but I haven’t had a single slip in the Skechers. Having seen a lot of use, you might expect the spikes to be wearing out, but the grip was as good this morning as it was on their first outing. And you can always replace the spikes if you want to reinvigorate traction levels.
There’s also a spikeless ‘SL’ version available.
So why the mediocre score in this category? I haven’t been hugely impressed by the waterproofing. I don’t know if it’s the broguing (yes, I had to look up what the little holes are called, but every day is a school day) or something else, but I’ve ended up with damp socks when playing in heavy rain or when walking through long, wet grass – when looking for someone else’s ball, of course.

Durability: 4/5
Most golf shoe reviews you read elsewhere will be based on a few rounds of wear, at most, which makes comments on durability little more than an educated guess. As I mentioned, I’ve worn the Skechers Go Golf Prestige for about 60 rounds, so I can show and tell you exactly how well they hold up to extended use.
They are starting to show signs of wear. There’s a small crack on the upper, but that’s about it, and they’re still perfectly wearable.
And it depends on how much life you expect from a golf shoe.
I’ve worn these in all conditions and, I must confess, have done nothing to look after them beyond giving them a blast with the compressed air coming off the 18th green.
If you play once a week and not during the worst of the winter, those 60 rounds could easily last you two years. And if you care for them better than I have, what mine are like after 60 rounds could be yours after 100 or more.
In my mind, that’s a decent effort.
Style & design: 4.75/5
Style is what always kept me away from Skechers in the past, but I love the look of these. Clearly, if you like bold, sporty-looking shoes with bells and whistles, these won’t be for you. But if you prefer something more classic and understated, these are a great option.
I think the best-looking golf shoes are things like the FootJoy Premiere and G/FORE Gallivanter, and these sit almost on a par with those.
I have genuinely had several people remark that they didn’t realize Skechers made such good-looking golf shoes.
I also find this style of shoe much more versatile than a chunky, hectic shoe. They look great with shorts, trousers, and joggers, which can’t be said for a lot of busier, bulkier golf shoes.

Technology & features: 4.5/5
The foam insole offers a good level of cushioning without feeling too spongy or built up.
The slip-in design, which I believe is unique to Skechers, makes them easy to put on without even needing to bend over. There’s what they call a ‘heel pillow’ which holds your foot in place to avoid any rubbing while you walk.
The sole features six Softspikes. Some brands have moved to seven or more, but I have had absolutely no qualms with the grip on offer.
Final verdict: 4.3/5
If you like brogue-style golf shoes and want a slightly more affordable – and arguably more comfortable – alternative to the FootJoy Premiere, the Skechers Go Golf Prestige is definitely worth considering.
They’re stylish, very comfortable, and grip brilliantly in all conditions.
The only drawback is the questionable waterproofing in very wet weather, but for all other occasions, they don’t put a foot wrong.
