He’s one of the rising stars in world golf, but who is Marco Penge’s wife? Meet Sophie Lamb…
Marco Penge has enjoyed a steady rise through the amateur and pro ranks.
Penge will be a PGA Tour player in 2026 thanks to an unbelievable year on the DP World Tour that has seen the Englishman win three times.
Speaking immediately after the latest of those titles, at the Open de Espana, in October, Penge shut down rumours that he was about to sign for LIV Golf.
“I’m going to America tomorrow with my wife to find a place for when we move in January,” Penge said. “I’m playing the PGA Tour next year.”
His plans are to “have a great season and finish in the Playoffs there and then come back to the DP World Tour and play the rest of the season here”.
“That’s my plan,” he added. “I love playing golf and I’d play every week if my team let me. I want to be playing against the best players in the world.”
But who is the woman that’s been by his side for the majority of this journey?
Meet Marco Penge’s wife

Lamb experienced a successful amateur career of her own, winning the Fairhaven Trophy back to back in 2013 and ’14. (Incidentally, Penge won the boys’ tournament in both those years too.)
The pair became an item not long after, and in 2016 went on to win the Sunningdale Foursomes together – despite Penge suffering from a bout of food poisoning on the final day.
“We really enjoyed the experience and can’t wait to see our names on the champions board at Sunningdale,” Penge said in an interview. “We may possibly be the youngest pairing to have won it. To win an event like this at the age of 17 and 18 is a great achievement for both of us and something we will remember.”
Lamb also won the British Women’s Stroke Play Championship that year, before going on to play in the 2017 Women’s Open – where she was the low amateur – and the following year’s Curtis Cup.
Her foray into the professional game, though, lasted two years, and in 2022 she announced she was retiring.
In a statement posted on her Instagram page, Lamb wrote: “I’ve been thinking for a while how to write this and it’s hard to put it into words. I have decided I will no longer play golf professionally.
“Being a professional golfer was my dream as a little girl and I’m so blessed to have been able to give it a go. The highs and lows are unexplainable. The highs are incredible, you feel so confident, everything feels easy and it seems like the best place in the world to be. The hundreds of messages popping through your phone after a good score or tournament would make anyone feel on top of the world and full of confidence.
“The lows are incredibly difficult. Sitting in hotel rooms dwelling on your finish or performance, missing the cut to realize you won’t make any money that week, the feeling of being defined by a score, The feeling of only being known as a ‘golfer’, the feeling that you’ve let people down. The extremes are insane.”
She has since worked as an operations and marketing co-ordinator at Per4m Health.
Penge and Lamb married in 2023 and their son, Enzo, was born in 2024.
The pair reside in Lamb’s hometown of Clitheroe, Lancashire.
