Comedian who led foul-mouthed chant against Rory McIlroy quits Ryder Cup role

First tee MC Heather McMahan will not return on Sunday after a clip of her joining in with the chant went viral.
It’s been a strange week for Heather McMahan at the Ryder Cup.
The comedian and actress was thrown in front of a limp first tee crowd at Bethpage in a desperate attempt to get them riled up for the day. While that largely fell on deaf ears, her second-day antics did not.
Having tried – and mostly failed – to get the American fans to join in a choreographed chorus of “U-S-A”, McMahan then succumbed to the masses’ desire to sing “F*** you, Rory” before eventually screaming the foul-mouthed battle cry into the microphone herself.
McIlroy and playing partner Shane Lowry were later subjected to a torrent of abuse during their afternoon fourball match against Justin Thomas and Cameron Young – with the American duo at times having to tell the fans to calm down.
Sports Business Journal’s Josh Carpenter later reported that McMahon had apologized to McIlroy via the PGA of America, and that she would not be returning to her MC role on Sunday for the singles matches.
Europe need just three points to seal just their fifth Ryder Cup victory on US soil, and first since the Miracle at Medinah 13 years ago.
