Best Golf Wedges 2025: How We Tested

Testing for the best wedges in 2025 has taken place in two stages to help balance performance testing across every aspect of how you’ll use wedges.

For the first stage, we met with testing pro, Neil Wain, on-site at Keele Golf Centre to gather data. Neil has been involved in testing with Today’s Golfer for many years now, and as an elite-level player, PGA professional, and golf club fitter, Neil is well-placed to be able to compare and contrast golf clubs in a consistent way for the TG readership.

Manufacturers were asked to supply two wedges from their collections for testing, one at 52º and the other at 60º, both with 8-10º of bounce.

Using TaylorMade TP5X golf balls and a Foresight GCQuad launch monitor, TG test pro Neil Wain hit five full swings and five partial swings with each 52º wedge to get this comprehensive data set while members of the testing team watched for outliers in the data that may need removing.

Once both the team and Neil had agreed they had achieved five good swings at both speeds with each wedge, the data was taken back and analysed by an ex-Team GB biomechanist and data scientist to see which models performed best according to our parameters.
