Hideki Matsuyama’s victory at the 2025 Sentry was his twelth on the PGA Tour, making the Japanese international Asia’s most prolific PGA Tour winner, having now amassed two more titles than K.J. Choi. Hideki set a tournament record that week, finishing at 35 under.
Before winning the 2024 Genesis Invitational, Matsuyama hadn’t really been knocking on the door, being absent from the top 10 for 343 days and it was 763 days since his previous latest victory at the 2022 Sony Open in Hawaii.
Prior to his win at the Sony Open, Matsuyama enjoyed a successful 2021, winning the ZOZO Championship in the Fall and becoming the Masters Champion in the Spring, which produced one of the most special moments in Masters history. Hideki won the Masters four years after claiming the 2017 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational – taking an extended vacation from the winner’s circle clearly doesn’t bother Hideki!
Between 2011 and 2017, Matsuyama claimed fourteen international victories on the professional circuit (one as an amateur), on the PGA Tour and Japan Golf Tour – in total, Hideki has amassed eight victories on the Japan Golf Tour.
